The Lead: Fourth-seeded Virginia Wesleyan scored a 1-0 win over fifth-seeded Roanoke in the 2018 ODAC Quarterfinals on Wednesday.
How it Happened
- The first-half did not see either team score a goal. The best scoring chance came in the 39th minute when VWU's Kennedi Anders ripped a free kick that was turned away by RC keeper Chris Martin. It was one of three first-half saves made by Martin.
- The match remained scoreless until the 54th minute when Camryn Terry scored from 25 yards out to give the Marlins the only goal it would need.
- VWU held a 19-5 edge in shots and each team had two corner kicks on the day. Martin had eight saves on the day, including five in the second half to keep the Maroons within striking distance. Tristen Roberts made one stop for the Marlins.
- The Maroons finish the season with an 8-5-4 record.
