RC Women's Lax Earns 20-12 Win Over Transylvania

The Lead: Jenn Schwechheimer, Katie Clements and Ellie Armstrong each had four goals as Roanoke topped Transylvania 20-12 Tuesday night in Salem.  

How it Happened

  • With Transylvania leading 2-0, Schwechheimer and Jenna Kuczo scored 24 seconds apart to tie the game at the 26:21 mark of the first-half.
  • The score was tied at 5-5 when RC went on a 6-1 run, taking a 11-6 lead on a Maggie Lewis free-position shot with 19 seconds to go in the half.
  • Salem Carlow scored with nine seconds to go then opened up the second-half scoring with a goal at the 26:49 mark to make it an 11-8 game.
  • Schwechheimer scored twice and Hannah Taylor added a goal at the 20:52 mark to push RC in front 14-8.
  • Transylvania pulled to within 15-10 but Clements, Riley Chase and Armstrong each scored in under a three minute span to give RC an 18-10 advantage with 12:55 to play.
  • Roanoke outshot Transylvania 36-22 and held a 15-11 edge in groundballs.
  • Taylor had two goals and three assists for RC, while Carly Schoudel made six stops in the cage for the Maroons.
  • Carlow scored four times, while Courtney Pontious added three goals and an assist for Transylvania. Mackenzie Dent made 11 saves in the net.
