Field Hockey Defeats Wilson College 3-2 on Wednesday
CHAMBERSBURG, PA - The Roanoke College field hockey team picked up its second consecutive win after defeating Wilson College 3-2 on Wednesday. The Maroons now have a record of 2-2, while the Phoenix sit at 3-3.

The Maroons opened up the offense right out of the gate. At the 1:10 mark, Jacklyn Farides became the fifth different Maroon to score a goal for Roanoke this season. She fielded a pass from Rebecca Schmidt and converted a shot into the back of the cage. In just the first minute, Roanoke held a 1-0 lead. Wilson was quick to answer as Miranda Long scored off a pass from Hillary Swartz at 7:58 to tie the game at 1-1.

Wilson claimed the lead over 10 minutes into the second half when Alexis Ankro scored an unassisted goal. Five minutes later, Isabella Lucia scored her first goal of the season on an unassisted shot. With less than seven minutes to play, Roanoke had tied the game at 2-2. Time ran out in regulation with the game still tied, so the game headed into overtime. Just 1:30 into the overtime period, Shelbi Holloman scored an unassisted goal, her second of the season, to give the Maroons the 3-2 victory over Wilson College.

Roanoke was led in shots by Shelbi Holloman and Kellie Jasinski, who took three shots apiece. Jacklyn Farides finished the contest with two shots of her own, with one finding the back of the cage. Candice Fisher played all 70 minutes and tallied one save.

The Maroons held the Phoenix to just four shots. Wilson was led by Miranda Long, who fired off two shots in the game, one of which was on goal. Kayla Butts and Emily Sullivan split time in the cage during the game, with Sullivan notching two saves.

Roanoke outshot Wilson 10-4, while also holding the 19-10 advantage in penalty corners.

The Maroons return to action on Saturday, September 20th as they travel to take on Ferrum College. That game is scheduled for a 12:00 PM start.
