Roanoke Field Hockey Earns Numerous NFHCA Academic Awards
The Roanoke College field hockey team earned numerous National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) academic awards during the 2014 season.

The field hockey team earned the NFHCA National Academic Team award, which goes to teams that have a 3.0 team GPA in the fall semester. Roanoke was one of six teams from the ODAC to receive the award.

Four Maroons were also named 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Collegiate Scholars of Distinction. These outstanding student-athletes have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year. Senior Lauren Hurley (Newville, PA) earned the award for the fourth year in a row. Sophomores Emily McQueen (Bryn Athyn, PA) and Kelly Wood (Mirror Lake, NH) are two time recipients of the award. Freshman Caroline Peterson (Chestertown, MD) earned the award in her first season on the team. There were seven recipients of this award from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, four of which were from Roanoke College.

Nine Maroons were named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Collegiate National Academic Squad by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher during the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year. With nine student-athletes receiving the award, Roanoke College ranked fourth among all ODAC schools.

Caroline Peterson - Chestertown, MD
Kelly Wood - Mirror Lake, NH
