For the third time this week, the Roanoke volleyball team would see their home match go to a fifth, and decisive, set. After falling to Methodist and Bridgewater earlier in the week, the Maroons once again came up just short with a 2-3 loss to Meredith College.
Roanoke welcomed undefeated Bridgewater to the Cregger Center on Wednesday night. The Eagles raced out to a 2-0 advantage before the Maroons would rally to tie the match and force a fifth set. Despite an early edge, the Maroons couldn't stop a late BC surge as the Eagles took the match, 3-2.
The first of back-to-back home matches for the Maroons was a visit from Methodist on Tuesday night. The two teams traded sets, 2-2, leading to a deciding fifth frame. Roanoke pulled away late for the 15-8 match clinching win.
The Roanoke College golf team traveled to Harrisonburg to compete in the, 17 team, Tom Kinder Memorial Golf Tournament hosted by Bridgewater College. Roanoke was sitting third after the opening day and finished the event eighth, besting five Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) foes.
The Roanoke College golf team completed their first tournament of the fall with a sixth place finish at the Green Turtle Invitational, hosted by Shenandoah University. The Maroons were in a tie for seventh going into the second day of play and moved up the leader board, just missing a top five finish.
The Roanoke field hockey team was back in action after their season opening win on August 30th. The Maroons scored early, only to see the visitors from Delaware tie it up in the third quarter, Two goals in the final frame propelled Roanoke to a 2-0 start to the season.
The 209 Roanoke College Maroon Classic volleyball tournament came to a close on Saturday afternoon. After a 2-0 Friday, the Maroons were able to complete the sweep with wins over Piedmont and Greensboro.
Friday marked the first day of the 2019 Maroon Classic. Roanoke would play a pair of matches looking to improve on their early 1-3 record. A 3-1 win over Mary Baldwin got the tournament off to a good start in advance of a 3-0 sweep against Maryville in the nightcap.
